Effortless Bund Exploration: Scenic Walks and a Cheap Ferry Ride
Here’s the route to follow when visiting the Bund 🗺️. It’s easy and saves energy, plus you can take the ferry for just 2 RMB! 🚢
Starting Point 🏁 I recommend taking the metro to 🚇 East Nanjing Road Station, Exit 7. This is the closest station to the Peace Hotel and the Bund 🚉—walking all the way from People’s Square would be way too far.
From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Peace Hotel and the Bund. Since it’s a Tuesday afternoon, there aren’t many people, so you can take plenty of photos.
After snapping some pictures at the Bund, stroll south along the river until you reach the Jinling East Road Ferry Terminal. But be careful ⚠️: The entrances for the sightseeing boats and the ferry are very close to each other, so don’t get them mixed up❗️The sightseeing boat is 120 RMB per person, while the ferry is only 2 RMB per person.
Scan the Shanghai public transportation QR code to enter the terminal and go through security 🛂. Ferries come every 5-10 minutes. Head straight to the second deck once onboard to enjoy the views of both sides of the Huangpu River—it’s fantastic!
⚠️ Important note: The ferry might not operate on holidays, so be sure to check the schedule in advance (I heard it’s not running during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival).
After disembarking, walk along the river to Super Brand Mall. By this point, you might be tired, so you can take a break at the Luckin Coffee on the first floor ✌🏻.
End Point 🏁 Finally, exit from the main entrance of Super Brand Mall, take the escalator near the Four-Faced Buddha, and head up to check out the Oriental Pearl Tower.
💡 Pro Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget your sunscreen!
